Kick your feet up, relax, and take this opportunity to explore the less serious side of the web. These are some of my favorite hangouts.

Where's George

Where's George?: I became a "Georger" in 1999, when I received my first bill with "wheresgeorge.com" stamped on it. Since then, I've become one of the top 25 Georgers in the Commonweath of Pennsylvania (out of over 3,000 Georgers), and one of the top 350 in the country (out of 2,000,000).

Many times, people who find my bills include amusing notes. I had my brother take some marked bills to Hawaii with him, and here's one of the best.

Doombuggies.com

Doombuggies.com: Friends know about my "interest" (perhaps obsession is a better word) in Disney's Haunted Mansion. I've been fortunate to visit both the one in Florida as well as California, as well as the Phantom Manor in France. This is the best fan site on the Internet.

For those of you who don't know, the Omnimover cars that take guests through the ride have been named "doombuggies."

Project Feederwatch

Project Feederwatch: I've been participating in Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Project Feederwatch since the winter of 1992-1993. All you need to do is count the birds that come to your feeders for two consecutive days every two weeks, fill out the form, and submit the information to Cornell. You can do the paper version (which is sent in at the end of the season) or the Internet version (you can submit your data after every count). If you enjoy backyard birding, this is a worthwhile project to consider. Cornell uses the data collected by their "Citizen Scientists" for a variety of educational and research purposes.

Urban Legend Reference Pages

Urban Legend Reference Pages: I'm always sending people to this site. Snopes will give you the real story about everything from butt spiders to 89 pound cats to get rich quick e-mails. The next time someone sends you an e-mail that just seems too incredible to be true, check here before you hit the forward button.

The Straight Dope

The Straight Dope: If you're a real trivia buff, like to know how things work, or want to learn the truth about wintergreen Life Savers, visit Cecil Adams. He and his staff delve into the nature of all sorts of obscure and interesting things in response to readers' questions.

Action Cat

Action Cat: Now that American Greetings and Blue Mountain have started charging, you may be in the market for a free electronic greeting site. Action Cat allows you to make customized postcards for any and every occasion. There's a great selection of images and you can even attach music to your greeting.

Boogie Jack's Web Depot

Boogie Jack's Web Depot: Visit this weird guy's site, he's an alien with no life - but sorta kinda cool anyway (he made me say this).

Actually this really is a great site if you're interested in learning HTML or want to fine tune your web site. He offers free web clip art, a lot of good tips, and a wide variety of resources.
