ArTips©-The newsletter dedicated to the business of art.Sometimes practical, sometimes techy, always helpful. Grants and FellowshipsAre you looking for some extra funds to help launch a new project, or maybe to just help more your career forward? Have you considered applying for a grant or fellowship, but need to find something that's right for you? The New York Foundation for the Arts (nyfa.org) has a large searchable database of grants and other opportunities for artists on their website to help you learn what is available. You can search for everything available worldwide, or narrow the search to only the state you live in. Once you've determined which grants interest you, you can contact the organization for more information. Maybe you have some general questions, or maybe you want to learn more about the percentage of applicants who are accepted. I've learned that these organizations are happy to respond to any questions you may have. And don't give up. I recently met an artist who finally received the prestigeous Pollock-Krasner Grant after 15 years of trying. And if you're in the Philadelphia area, look for my ARTBiz column each month in Art Matters. |
